Regulation🔗
Last Updated: 2025/08/30
These regulations are designed to ensure the safe, efficient use and proper maintenance of the laser cutting machines. All users must carefully read and comply with these regulations.
1. Eligibility & Reservations🔗
- Reservations are limited to faculty and students who have been qualified for usage. (Qualified students include those in the Department of Architecture and students from other departments enrolled in architecture courses.)
- Reservations must be completed online before 5:00 PM the day prior to use.
- Each reservation slot is for half a class period (25-30 minutes), and reservations cannot span across different TAs; separate reservations are required if crossing TA shifts.
- Reservations can be canceled up to 4:00 PM the day before the scheduled time.
2. Usage Fees🔗
- Usage fees are calculated based on whether the reservation falls within or outside of the official schedule:
- Scheduled Hours (8:00 AM - 10:00 PM daily): NT$100 for the first half hour, then NT$50 per additional fifteen minutes.
- Off-Hours (10:00 PM - 8:00 AM daily): NT$200 for the first half hour, then NT$100 per additional fifteen minutes.
- If actual usage is less than half of the reserved time, you must pay for the entire reserved duration; if it exceeds half, fees will be calculated based on actual usage.
- Payment is due at the time of cutting.
3. Machines & TAs🔗
- Laser cutting machines require prior reservation; walk-ins are not accepted.
- Machines can only be operated by TAs. If you do not have a reservation, an TA will not be present.
- TAs are students within the department and are not directly employed by the department. Their compensation is paid by users based on actual machine usage time.
4. User Responsibilities🔗
- Punctual Attendance: Users must arrive at RB910 on time for their reserved slot. Failure to arrive within fifteen minutes will be considered a forfeiture of the reservation, and you must pay the full fee for that slot before making another reservation.
- Identity Verification: You must present identification to the TA on the day of use. If someone is cutting on your behalf, please notify the TA in advance.
- Files & Materials: Users are responsible for bringing their own suitable and safe materials. TTDA does not provide or sell laser cutting materials.
- Safety Regulations: Before using the machine, ensure that your material complies with usage regulations and adhere to all safety warnings.
- Constant Supervision: Multiple people can use a reservation slot, but the person who made the reservation must be present throughout the entire duration.
- Cooperation with TAs: Cooperate with TAs regarding file processing and parameter settings; time spent on these tasks will be included in your usage fees.
5. TA Responsibilities🔗
- Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the laser cutting machines, supervising users to maintain cleanliness of RB-910, and ensuring equipment safety.
- Scheduling must be finalized at the beginning of each semester and cannot be changed due to personal reasons. If an TA needs to take leave, they must find a substitute.
- Responsible for verifying user identity and material safety.
- TAs must be present throughout the cutting process; any malfunctions or abnormalities should be addressed immediately.
6. Handling Special Circumstances🔗
- Machine Malfunction: If a machine malfunction results in more reservations than available machines, the TA will coordinate usage time.
- TA Tardiness: Fees will be deducted based on the amount of time the TA is late (e.g., if an TA is 10-15 minutes late, 15 minutes will be deducted; if they are 15-30 minutes late, 30 minutes will be deducted, and so on).
- TA Absence: TA must arrange a makeup sessions, and the user can use the reserved time for free.
- TA Leaving Without Communication: Users do not need to pay for that session, and the TA will be subject to suspension.
7. Prohibited Actions & Violations🔗
- Cutting or assembly is prohibited anywhere within RB-910.
- Playing games, eating, and engaging in activities unrelated to laser cutting are prohibited inside the laser cutting lab.
- If TA discovers garbage or materials left behind, users will be banned from using the TTDA services for one month; a second violation will result in suspension for one semester.
- Improper management by TAs or violations of any of the above regulations will be considered misconduct and may result in suspension depending on the severity of the situation; if damage to the machine occurs, you will be responsible for repair costs.
