Regulations🔗
Last updated: 2025/08/30
Eligibility🔗
Students and faculty of the Architecture Department at NTUST, or anyone enrolled in architecture‑design related courses offered by the department.
Machine Types & How to Use Them🔗
The workshop has two types of machines: Self-Service Machines and Print Service Machines. Be sure to read the Overview first to understand detailed machine information and safety warnings.
Free-to-Use / Self-Service Machines🔗
- Cost: Free.
- Materials: Users must bring their own filament and SD card.
- Responsibility: The user is fully responsible for operating the machine. If damage occurs due to improper use, the user will cover repair costs.
- Cleanliness: Keep the machine and surrounding area clean.
- Maintenance: Machines are maintained by the department’s management faculty only during summer break.
Print Service Machines🔗
- How to Apply: Submit an application via the 3D Print Service Portal.
- File Formats: Accept STEP, STL or 3MF files that already contain print settings. GCODE files are not accepted.
- Quoting Schedule:
- Submit before 17:00 on a weekday → quote completed by the next working day 17:00.
- Submit after 17:00 on a weekday or during holidays → wait an extra working day for the quote.
- Mass amount of files → TA may postpone quoting.
- The system will automatically assign a 3D‑print TA to handle the request.
- Pricing:
- Usage fee: NT$10 per 30 minutes, NT$0.5 per gram. (Reprints after failure are not charged)
- Material cost (separate): FDM NT$0.5 per gram, Resin NT$2.5 per gram.
- File‑check fee: First time for each submission is free; subsequent checks cost NT$20 each.
- Minimum charge: NT$100 (rounded to the nearest whole amount based on weight, time, and number of checks).
- Material Selection: TA prepare filament; users can request color and material type (subject to inventory). Users may also bring their own FDM filament (quote will exclude material cost).
- Pickup Window: Collect within 3 working days after notification. Late pickup may be considered a forfeit.
- File Check: The TA will verify printability; if issues arise, the user must modify the file.
Other Notes🔗
- Tolerances: 3D printing has inherent tolerances that vary slightly between machines.
- Delay Compensation: If delays are caused by TAs, a refund for the unprinted portion plus a 20% compensation (up to NT$200) can be requested.
- Regulation Updates: The management faculty updates these guidelines irregularly. Contact the responsible faculty with any questions.
Reminder: For detailed machine safety information, print‑parameter settings, and maintenance guides, see the Overview.```
